Listings & Citation Cleanup
A citation is any mention of your business name, address and contact details on another website: directories, map providers, industry associations, chamber listings, aggregators that quietly feed dozens of smaller sites. Search engines use these mentions to decide how confident they are that your business exists where you say it does.
The problem is almost never that you have too few. It is that you have several, and they disagree. An old suite number here, a former trading name there, hours that changed during the pandemic and were never updated. Every contradiction chips away at the confidence that decides whether you make the map pack.
What the cleanup covers
A full audit first
We find every listing that already exists, including the ones created automatically that you have never seen.
One canonical record
Your business name, address and details written down once, exactly as they should appear everywhere, punctuation included.
Duplicate removal
Duplicate profiles merged or suppressed, which is often the single reason a business cannot rank at its own address.
Core directories
The general directories and map providers that carry weight in your country, submitted and verified individually.
Industry and local sites
Trade bodies, regional business listings and category-specific sites that a generic package would never touch.
Ongoing monitoring
Listings drift. We re-check the important ones and correct anything that has reverted or been auto-generated since.
What you get
- A spreadsheet of every listing found, its current state and what was done to it
- One documented canonical business record you can hand to anyone who ever fills in a form
- Duplicates identified, merged or removed with the case reference for each
- Submissions to the core directories relevant to your country and category
- Logins and ownership for every listing handed over to you
- A re-check at the ninety day mark to catch anything that reverted
of the small businesses we audit have at least one duplicate or wrong listing live
How the work runs
The audit takes about a week. Corrections and submissions run over the following three to four weeks, though some directories are slow and a handful take up to two months to process a change. Duplicate removals are the least predictable part, since each one is a support case with its own queue. We report progress as listings are confirmed rather than making you wait for the whole set.
